Motif: A Decorative Design or Pattern. Ever recognize a certain patter of shapes together enough to decipher what it is? That’s a motif. Motif the game is a puzzle game about assembling these motfis from a set of shapes, a whole bunch of them infact at over 100.

Spin and arrange these sets of shapes to match the pattern. It sound easy and it really is when you just have one set of shapes, but when you get a nice handful at a time, it can be quite tricky to get it just right. To be completely honest, a few puzzles I actually did accidentally. Despite having puzzles in the hundreds, the game quickly gets to the point where you’ll actually have to think even a few dozen in.

Motif is incredibly simple and minimal. It’s just black backgrounds and the white lines and shapes. Not much in terms of audio and style, but that isn’t a knock against the game, far from it. It’s like looking into the stars.

I don’t have much to say about Motif despite liking it. There isn’t really much to say, it’s a game that is very matter of fact. Motif doesn’t try to push itself as anything but, which is why this isn’t an issue. For what it is, it’s an incredibly accessible puzzle game and that’s what’s most important. If the controls seem a little unwieldly, just use the touch screen.
