Adrenaline Rampage could be a bad game and I would have no idea because I was having so much fun. Starting the game allows you to choose between a campaign mode or jumping right into a survival mode. I immediately chose to jump into the survival mode because the first map and difficulty were available right away, and I had lots of fun.

The game is a 2D platformer rougelike. Each round lasts between 20 and 60 seconds and all you have to do is fend off enemies until the time reaches zero and then reach an escape portal. Every time you beat a round, the enemies get tougher and the round lasts longer. You also get to upgrade your weapons and character. After clearing all the rounds, you face off against a boss and then the round ends.

It’s a very simple game because the guy auto fires for you and the rounds are very quick. I really liked how fast paced and frantic the rounds were, and I thought the boss battles were really good. Survival mode was a great game for randomly picking up and playing for a fun 10 minute session. The campaign mode is more or less the same.

As you progress through the game, you unlock different types of currencies. You use these to unlock different areas of your home base and upgrade your character. You also unlock different maps and difficulties for the survival mode, which make the game even more fun. Maybe the game is a bit too simple and bare bones for some, but I had fun with it.

3.5/5
