Murder Inc might just be the worst game that I have played in all of 2025. That’s saying a lot because I normally don’t play games that I think I won’t like beforehand. But it might also be a byproduct of the Switch version not being all that great to begin with. The game has a very clever and fun concept, but its execution and functionality are very flawed.
Murder Inc is a top down action game that plays almost exactly like Hotline Miami with a few slight Joh Wick Hex vibes. You play as a hitman whose tasked with cleaning the city of all its terrible criminals. But this is where the unique concept comes in, because time only moves forward when you’re also moving. This is similar to the core gameplay mechanic of Superhot.
Don’t get me wrong, that concept isn’t bad at all. Murder Inc is fun, frantic, and looks great, but the excitement is very short lived. The game becomes very stale rather quickly and both the controls and moving on the Switch version are very lackluster. I tried playing as much as I could, but it was a slog after less than an hour.
This is rather disappointing because from what I can tell, the game is pretty good on Steam. It still gets stale quickly, but the game itself works better on the Steam version. It only appears to be the Switch version that’s extra painful to play through. For only $9.99, it’s not a bad deal, but if you really want to try this game out, I’d suggest playing it on Steam instead.
