[Gabbin’ with Gamers] Kyle (a.k.a. dumpykdog)
Today on Gabbin’ with Gamers, Kyle (a.k.a. dumpykdog) joins The Switch Effect to share his passion of gaming with all of us. We came upon your Twitch account and saw you playing Super Mario Odyssey. We knew instantly that you would be the perfect gamer to speak with, haha.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m Kyle, a.k.a. Dumpykdog. I’m 24 years old and I’ve been gaming basically my whole life. I actually first started playing on an NES and my first game I played was Duck Hunt, lol. I started streaming about 2 years ago on and off, but the last 7 months I have been serious about it. I own every system that is currently out.
Can you tell us about how you got into gaming and collecting?
Well how I got into gaming was 100% my mom. She loved playing games with us and showing us the classic games. She still currently owns an Atari system that still works.
What was the first console and game that you owned?
I would say the NES and SNES were the ones that I can remember being my first consoles that i owned. First game would be Duck hunt/Super Mario Bros. combo game.
Do you have any fond childhood memories based around gaming?
I would say my whole childhood was based around gaming. My little sister and I would sit playing Donkey Kong Country on the SNES. Also, we would play The Sims and trapping our sims in rooms and seeing how long they lasted, lol.
Were any of your family members enthusiastic about gaming?
I would have to saying my mom was the biggest one. My little sister as well was big into games.
Let’s jump forward a bit. Here’s one to get you thinking. If you weren’t collecting games, what would be your hobby?
If I wasn’t collecting games man, I would have to say being more into music. I do also play instruments, but gaming kind of took that over, haha.
As you’re aware, technology continues to advance the gaming industry. Have you been a fan of these changes?
I’ve been the biggest of fans of these changes. I think it’s keeping up with the time. Don’t get me wrong, I love the classics, but to see Mario in a “New York” Type city and still be amazing is just crazy. A couple of years ago we wouldn’t even dare to think of it. I really can’t wait to see what other awesome things they have for us
Where do you think technology will bring us in the future?
I’m seeing the future going towards a VR/ Augmented reality type gaming. It’s looking to be amazing what this can do. How they are going to bring worlds to life in your living room.
We at The Switch Effect are obviously big fans of Nintendo’s new console. What are your impressions of the Switch?
When they released the first details I was on the fence about the system. However, I got to go to a Switch event that was held in my city and I couldn’t stop thinking about how I thought the system would be amazing. I do currently own the system and I love it. I bring it on every trip I go on and I think it’s one of their best systems that they came out with.
Which new games are you looking forward to the most?
Well Mario was one of my top on the list but I’m going to have to say right now it has to be Kingdom Hearts III or Red Dead Redemption 2.
We came across your Twitch account and really enjoyed your videos. What interested you in starting a social media account?
Well I love to make content. I always have ever since I could remember. I always wanted to make videos on YouTube, but I wanted something live. When my friends and I saw Twitch was around I bought my first gaming PC and capture card and had to do it. I also do it because I want to make a place for people not just for gaming, but for people that are having rough days or the happiest days to come on in and just have fun and be themselves.
What would you say makes your videos unique and different from others?
Well come on! I’m Dumpykdog: The king of HALLOOO! What else more do you need? Seriously, I would have to say is I’m not the greatest at games but I do have to say I am pretty funny. I do a lot of dumb things without even knowing, haha.
What is the best way for our readers/followers to keep up with you?
The three ways to follow me are Twitter, Instagram, and Twitch. The links are below.
Last question now that I’ve run you through the gauntlet. Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Keep true to yourself. Never let anyone tell you that playing games or streaming games or anything that makes you happy is stupid or wrong. It’s what makes you, YOU! I know it’s weird to put that as the last thing to add, but I’ve had people come into my channel and were able to make it their place to get away from everyone else that is judging them and making them not happy. I always tell them to never let anyone run your life. Thank you all for reading about me and hopefully I’ll see you guys over at the nation! The DUMPYNATION!
Thank you again for taking the time to speak with The Switch Effect and for our readers to learn more about your gaming passion. We look forward to your future posts and videos!
